Word is that they open this week.

When I read the comment by Anon 9.00, I thought you could take that comment two ways. Either you could see that they were agreeing with Nellie that you did indeed need to be sitting back relaxing at LC and enjoying the day with no time constraints at all, and they had read her last post (in April 07) in which she speaks about the kids & her home renovation taking up all her time instead of being able to blog so saw that she wasn't on a specific timeframe to eat and run, or they were being extremely sarcastic and having a go at Nellie for the fact that she obviously has plenty of time on her hands to sit round and sup coffee!
I still am not sure which way they meant it, but would have hoped it was more of an observation rather than a judgement.
Whatever - thanks to Kevin and CR for their response on Nellie's behalf.Ritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05721723151185687327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089273951617856289.post-15617063347133995092009-03-02T06:23:00.000+11:002009-03-02T06:23:00.000+11:00I guess if you don't like what someones says about...I guess if you don't like what someones says about their experience at a particular place you can always have a go at them ....ah Anon 9pm you add nothing to the debate except your one eyed dislike of a positive comment.

CRAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089273951617856289.post-14866977669781999012009-03-01T21:04:00.000+11:002009-03-01T21:04:00.000+11:00Gee anon 9.00 I wish I had time to monitir when pe...Gee anon 9.00 I wish I had time to monitir when people made their last post(which I always thought was a sort of bugle solo).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089273951617856289.post-74011173402191898732009-02-28T21:00:00.000+11:002009-02-28T21:00:00.000+11:00Considering your last post nellie was in April 200...Considering your last post nellie was in April 2007 I would say you are not in the 'time constrained' or '10 min turnaround', category.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089273951617856289.post-14523826840607129072009-02-28T19:25:00.000+11:002009-02-28T19:25:00.000+11:00As a fussy breakfaster and shameless coffee whore,...As a fussy breakfaster and shameless coffee whore, Lansdowne Cafe hits the spot for me pretty much every time. My experience of staff service has been only positive, and my observations of their manner with other patrons confirms this. I guess you can't please all people, and certainly everyone has 'off days'.
I guess I enjoy the casual ambience of the place - a sort of bustling yet low key suburban cafe catering NOT to time-constrained office workers requiring a 10min turnaround on their latte and eggs benedict. It's more a laid-back take-your-time and savour the day kind of venue.
Hmmmmm, maybe it's all about expectations?Nelliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07264720143591147534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089273951617856289.post-19805623523738408952009-02-28T17:13:00.000+11:002009-02-28T17:13:00.000+11:00Best breakfast I have ever had in Hobart.Service w...Best breakfast I have ever had in Hobart.
Service was ok and the coffee good.
Great place to lunch . . It was a very chic spot in those days - timber floors, old fashioned chairs, and the very first pain chocolat I had ever tasted. It was smaller then - about 2/3 the frontage.

I have gone there through various changes in ownership (and at least two name changes). When it re-opened from its unfortunate fire a few years ago, it didn't ever seem to quite get back. Some times the food would be excellent but the service sloppy. Or the service would be fine, but the coffee too bitter. And other times, things were just right - about 12 months ago I called in there for breakfast, and they did a superb poached egg, but then failed to rise to the same standard a week later.

I am also not sure that the foray into deli supplies helped. It seemed to end up being neither a good cafe nor a comprehensive deli.

I will call in as soon as they open again, if only to reminisce.

SusannahSusannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07132044454683106362noreply@blogger.com
