There were three of us - one first, 3 mains, 2 deserts, 3 coffees.
First course was smoked Tofu plate - served hot and a real winner. [perhaps I should have stopped there!]
MC - I had beef rib which was cooked medium as requested with a bordelaise style sauce [not sure it was made in the classical way], mash and greens with truffle oil; dish basically good but thought greens were awful.
- My wife had mushroom thing which she found a bit rich.
- Daughter had salmon, because she likes the taste of salmon but the fish was dryish and too many other flavours to taste the salmon.
Sweets - Chocolate cake was appreciated and creme brullee was good. I had the 1st course and was already full!
We also got bits to begin with - good olives, garlic pop corn [why bloody bother?] and bread rolls with almond slivers. Before dessert a small fruit mouse with a raspberry foam top.
Coffees - a bit milky for my taste but had worse.
My feeling is that it’s good to eat around but one needs to get better at their prices.
July 31: Restaurant 373’s TSO dinner with Christopher Nicholas and William Newberry playing violin and viola to accompany the three multi-choice courses and sparkling with canapes on arrival.

Well spotted Anon. I had a look at that review and it was most detailed and informative. The kind of review I like to read but not to write!
Restaurant 373 in North Hobart has a new menu and is now taking bookings for its special Christmas lunch and New Year’s Eve dinner. 6231 9031.
went to 373 on sat night and was pleased to see they have picked up the slack they made last year when things were a bit so-so, noticed some changes: painted the restaurant, new chairs ( though only in the back room and by the looks of it in the downstairs function bit) and the menu is a lot better than what it was like last year, trio of pork was great, the oxtail bits with the steak was better than the steak ( in a good way) and the chocolate souffle my wife nearly cried haha. Was missing a lot of things both front and back of house last year but looks like they're back to being very good
I dined at 373 with my wife a week ago or so whilst in Hobart. It was with doubt one of the most disappointing meals I have had anywhere for many moons.
Indifferent overzealous service ... "is your appetiser/entree/main course to your liking(?) within minutes of there serving" and the food was at best competent (Vichyssoise with blue cheese) and at worst burnt and indifferent (Blue eye with a prawn ravioli).
To add to all of this the gent's toilet had not been cleaned and the liquid soap dispenser was empty.
We would not go back. Life is way to short to endure lack lustre hospitality of this sort let alone pay good money for it.
Is this some anti Tasmanian/ Hobart flame war/sour grapes? Not at all on the same trip we had entirely delicious repasts at Angasi (Binalong Bay) / Meadowbank (Cambridge)
Will try something different when next in Hobart.

We had dinner at 373 last weekend. I found the service very good - they seemed to be trying very hard. My main, blue in a salty crust, was disappointing but the accompanying vegetables were very good. Creme brulee dessert had an interesting twist with leatherwood honey.
We had a fantastic dinner there last week. While the food wasnt perfect it was really great - along with the service. Enjoy
