Hi Rita,
The Friday night before last my wife and I had dinner at Salt. We had a very enjoyable meal and found the restaurant to be up to the high standard suggested in your review.
Towards the end of the meal I filled up our two glasses with the last of our bottle of wine. Then, to my absolute embarrassment, I clumsily knocked over my glass of wine which of course went everywhere. The wait staff quickly and without any fuss cleaned up the mess. My wife gave me half her glass of wine and we continued dining. When we had finished our wine a waiter came over with two fresh glasses of the wine we had been drinking and said "this is on us". I was impressed, I will go back, and I hope Salt does very well.
hi Rita, had lunch at Salt yesterday (Sunday) but must admit was disappointed after your rave reviews.
I ordered very differently to what I would usually do so perhaps that is it. I was cold, so thought I would go with a wintery ’chicken schnitzel on sour dough toast with coleslaw’. It came out as a thick white bread sandwich with schnitzel coleslaw and bottled tomato sauce’. my husband ordered the turkish bread steak sandwic which looked fine.
The problem was that we were not provided cutlery or a napkin. I could do with out the cutlery, but would have preferred to take one of the thick slices of bread off my sandwich and eat with a knife and fork, but was happy enough to eat with my hands (as my grandmother would say - fingers were invented before forks) however I really needed that napkin to do so. We had to ask for napkins which were brought out to us without too much fuss.
the food was fine and what was expected (apart from the bottled tomato sauce) and my husband said the onion jam was a little too star anisey.
I probably should have had the cajun calamari salad with paw paw salad and aioli and then I wouldnt have been disappointed.
Not a bad option for breakfast on a Saturday and it is on my way to work Coffee is great altough a bit hit and miss (aren’t they all?). Never been for dinner and have been meaning to go. The menu looks good and my girlfriends regularly go and keep going back.
Amazing meal!! recommend to all!! not sure where LT went ?? I reguarly dine at salt and there is NO WAY they would bring out sauce in a bottle?? Anyway its a beautiful place to Dine..... :O)
