Went last night for our regular ladies night. It was okay.
Much prefer Siam Garden. Food was pretty good, great flavours and excellent value.
This place could do with a little doing up though, especially the exterior.
Presentation sells!
If we hadn't had Rita's advice we probably wouldn't have dined there.
They make officially the worst Pad Thai in the Universe. My partner and I are somehwat connoisseurs of Pad Thai and are having fun trying out all the Thai restaurants in Hobart to see who whips up the best Pad Thai. Thai Garden Pad Thai is made from tiny thin noodles (not the flat rice noodles as expected), mixed with cabbage, carrot and random other vegetables. No traditional trimmings were included, bar the lemon wedge. I have NO IDEA how they can claim this is Pad Thai. To top it off, I waited about 45 minutes for my takeaway. Got home starving about 8.30pm with that heap of junk to eat for dinner. I doubt I will ever return based on this experience.
Bugger, Anon 12.19! Don't you hate that? I must admit I have never (and would never) ordered Pad Thai there or anywhere else. Naturally I've eaten it (myriad times) but being sauce-less, it just doesn't appeal to me - hence my wholehearted recommendation of Thai Gardens food which is based on my love of runny food!
That's an intyeresting thread to follow though - the Pad Thai trail. Where else have you eaten it, and what were their ratings from you?
Yes Anon 12.19 - I too would love to hear where else you've eaten it in Hobart and how you would rate them. I love it an had my favourite places when I lived in Sydney but haven't found a good one yet in Hobart.
This place is great! Cheap, tacky (in an endearing sort of way) and totally delicious. Their curries are better than I had in Thailand. The waitresses are sweet and the atmosphere is cheerful.
The best Pad Thai in Tasmania is to be had at the restaurant in the Resort Hotel in Scamander! What a surprise that was.....
