Blogging etiquette

In a private email exchange with Food Kitty the other day, we mentioned blogging etiquette, and what constitutes that.

I hadn't really given it much depth of thought before that, but she got me thinking about it from a different perspective.

Kitty had noticed a blogger who never comments on others sites, and we both agreed that we felt that was not the communal blogging way.

If you want to put it out there, surely you must expect some kind of either endorsement or flak. And presumably you are happy with creating some kind of dialogue between bloggers?

Are bloggers generally just having a written conversation with themselves, or are they people who are happy with the anonymity of dialogue exchange on the net with like-minded, or not, others?

Interesting questions Rita.

Some mustlove the exchange of opinions.

Others may be using the blog as a type of diary.

Some still may be sharpening their written expression skills with the hope of an immediate critique.

However if you are talking about The Hobart Restaurant Bitch not commenting, perhaps she is creating an air of mystique, above us all in the stratosphere.

We are not sure if we agree on your ideals on 'Blogger Etiquette' though. So what if she dosn't comment, maybe she's intimidated by everyone else wit? If you are blogging for her Papal annointment you're doing it for the wrong reason's babe!

We have noticed that her posts are getting less frequent, especially after the GG & Kitty started. Now there are more bloggers (like yourself) with arguably more to say on wider food related topics & not limited to restaurant & cafe revues.

It's OK Gobbler. I'm not at all fussed about the papal recognition from HRB.
My questions were sheerly out of interest. I already know why I do it, so am interested in others reasons.
Kitty generated this interest.

Well, as my dear blog 'friend' Swarf/Maelstrom said some time ago, I just like to natter...

Maybe she does comment, albeit anonomously?

I don't think it's bad etiquette not to, it's personal choice!

(I am not her btw!)

Yes - maybe you're right about her commenting anonymously. I hope so.

Kitty - you do a great "natter", as well as stirring! Your position on the 2008 Top 10 M & S is looking good!

stirring, moving and shaking? - looks like it's back to the gym and off the grog for me...

Ps can you pretty please get rid of word recognition - I get it wrong most times!

Word recognition gone! Sorry Kitty!

It's about time.. a lack of it!

I'd love to engage with all the blogs I read but I'd spend all day typing.

Rest assured, we're reading and mulling over every word and idea.

I don't have a BLOG here, I don't plan to either. I do have a MySpace BLOG that I use to get info out to friends or air grievances with the world et al. I find that I only BLOG rarely when I have something to say, but nothing I say is about food or restraunts, it's about telling my mates news or lettin gthem know to boycott Jetstar because my two dogs have better coustomer service skills then their Hobart airport staff!

To be honset I don't think BLOG ettiquette exists! If you put it out there be prepared to get feedback good or bad, and if you don't comment so be it, but your just a little boring!

Well thats my 2 cents!
