I get really (quietly) annoyed with people who are negative and complain all the time. That's why I'm going to make todays blog about the Queens Head brief.
I'm disappointed that my meal there tonight was pretty well on a par with last weeks OC meal. Kitty, I'm not going to point the finger, so believe me when I say that I chose the Salt & Pepper Squid of my own volition, not because you talked it up after Cup Day last year!
I chose 2 entrees because I wanted to try them, and because I can. My other choice was the Tempura Mushrooms.
The (Huon Valley) Mushroom batter was heavy and floury. Tempura batter it definitely wasn't. The squid was fatty and heavy too.
Once again I have emerged with a yukky fatty tummy. It must be my stupidity in ordering fried food. I won't do that again.
Anyway, combine that with shocking service, means I won't be returning in a hurry. But - don't forget all this is totally subjective. You might well (in fact I hope you DO) go there tomorrow night & have a gorgeous meal.
I'm heading back to my tried & tested value+/enjoyment+ roast at the Shamrock.

We are not sure about you Rita but when negotiating the traps for young players on the menu choice one would think that the fryer basket in a pub would be a safe & reliable option.
In the wrong handsa greasy, queasy heviness will always be the end result. Yet when a plate of crisp chips, crunchy & dry battered flathead reaches you, well its about as close to a deep-fried epiphany as one can get.
We always suggest that you never stray beyond the level of expertise usually expected at a good pub. Parmie's, Steak, Fish & chipos etc. However as you say, even this approach can have dissappointing results.
bugger..
