Today marks Steve Cumpers final day at Peppermint Bay, and the end of a noteworthy era. Anyone who has had the pleasure of a beautiful dining experience there cannot fail to appreciate the difference this will make on the eating landscape of Hobart.
Let me hastily add that I'm not in any way assuming or wishing Steve's successor anything other than the continued success that Steve has had there, but merely wishing to pay tribute to this changing of the guard.
Steve will be going in a different direction with his new employers and I am sure we will all benefit from this change in direction. I think it will expand his horizons in ways that would have been difficult in the PB kitchen. Well done Steve.
I was interested to read in todays Merc of the sale of Siscos to David Hale (ex Makos, ex Salad Bowl, and currently at Fish Bowl in Salamanca). The Hale empire continues to expand as they progressively make their way onwards and upwards. It will be interesting to watch what they do with their latest acquisition.
Finally - thanks to Drysdale for taking on Rita's rant of yesterday and using it as a basis for some student customer relations lectures! Any time you want the obviously totally impartial Rita to talk about hospitality service, you know where to come! (Breathe in for serenity, and out for anger!!)

Hey Rita,
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. We might have to re think our decision for dinner that particular night. Bit dissappointing really.
Great site too.
Thanks Christina. Glad you popped over to check me out!
If you are wanting to go along to Anatolias still, you should go if you want. Whatever anyone says about it is subjective. Someone at another table (with different palate & tastes & judgement) the same night as I was there probably had a totally different experience, and would tell you a totally different version of their dining out there.
I try to reinforce that fact to others when I speak about somewhere, and for the same reason, I don't just take one persons opinion as gospel.
So - if you DO go, make sure you come back and tell us about it, whether it's good or bad.
