It's a pretty quiet week this week for Rita. No dining out so far.
But a few interesting bits of info picked up round the traps:
Lenna are updating their kitchen. When you think about it, the equipment there must be looking pretty dated now, so it will be time for something new.
Also the same for Mures Upper Deck. They will close for the day while new equipment is installed (by crane) in their big renovation.
I like this kind of news. It's good to see restaurants investing in themselves, and caring enough to expend this money. It would be easy (and a temptation) to spend the profits elsewhere so it's nice that the business gets it back.
Also heard back about some friends (who live in Launceston, and eat out frequently) who ate last night at Da Angelos. They reported it as "average". I haven't heard that said about Da Angelos for ages. I hope it was just an off night.

Hi Rita.
I was just reading Andy Hayler's Resturant guide.
In his US section there was a review of a Washington restaurant , Kinkeads, (second from bottom at 73).
Guess what? They have eight dessert wines by the glass.
You'll have to get over there, girl.
Cheers, Sir Grumpy
Tues & Wed nights - Head Chef's very occasional nights off. Reports are the backup is nowhere near as good as the HC - but they had real trouble hiring and had no option. S
I take it you are meaning Da Angelos, anon, re chef's nite off.
Cheers, Sir Grumpy (thanks for the info).
Launcestonians are spolit for choice when it comes to cheap and cheerful pasta and pizza. I can vouch that at least two similar places up there would beat D' Angelos so they may have a point
looks like quite a bit of work going on at siscos too - whats happening there?
sir g - wow! Looks like I'm headed for Washington!
S - thanks for that. It accounts for the discrepancy in food.
hrv - yes, I thought precisely that when I was told about their Da Angelos experience.
Hey Kitty - not keeping up your Merc subscription? They reported a few weeks ago that it's been bought by David Hale (Fish Bowl, ex-Salad Bowl & prior to that, Makos). It'll be interesting to see how the Hales develop it won't it?
