Lee How Fook Revisited Revisited

Curly Lasgna - I am now on my knees apologising profusely to you. You were right. Mea culpa.
You'll never guess what happened to us tonight! We went along to check out Lee How Fook again so I could look at my previous review with sterner eyes this time, only to find the place totally full, and booked out for the night! At 6.00 on a Thursday night in Lindisfarne I didn't expect that.

So - that now leads me to a couple of things. Firstly, thank you SO much Pedro, for your extremely insightful comments on the previous posting (entitled "Lee How Fook Revisited). I think you hit the nail fair and square on the head. My previous visits to LHF were with a LHF "family" member (ie - not someone of Chinese extraction, but figuratively speaking), so we did indeed get treated with friendliness, humour and care by Linda. You made the point about that making the difference with the service - being treated like that, and you are so right.

That is truly the focus of great customer service, don't you think? The fact that someone treats you so well; cares about you; looks after your needs and desires; remembers you and acknowledges you the next time you go there. If all this is done in a totally natural way (not in an obsequious, slimy way) I think you can forgive many things, including if the meal takes a long time arriving, or if it isn't quite up to par.

Next thing I wanted to say about all this is that I reckon that it wouldn't matter what I said about a restaurant, there'd be pretty well a 50-50 division of opinions for and against whatever my opinion was. That's only because we're all human. We are all different. Thank god. I'm not being angry or sarcastic here. Just stating what I believe to be fact.

So - LHF - I'll get there again one day soon. But meanwhile, it looks like, if you're not a regular there, you're bound to be disappointed, because when all's said and done, Pedro was right - it is a small suburban Chinese takeaway restaurant. But I still swear by the Duck in Plum Sauce!

Did you say booked out Rita. Damn my worst fears realised. I'm sure they all came over from the western shore.

However, all may not be lost if they have an experience like Pedro's and not bother coming back.

And by the way Pedro the Lee How Fook is not so unpretentious on a Sunday night when that red Ferrari parks outside.

Who said I'm not going back to the LHF Curly Lasagna. The missus wants us to become regulars like you and bring over lots of our friends.

Useless - FYI

Do you know that the Mandarin or 'pu tong hua' (common language) is the language most spoken on earth? While the Mandarin language is mainly used in China and Taiwan, Cantonese, one of Chinese many dialects is chiefly spoken in Hong Kong, Guangdong(Canton) province and most Chinatowns in the West.

Maybe the westies speak fluent mandarin qualifying them bums on seats 7 days???

Maybe for CL's sake, the Westies could venture down to Chopsticks at Kingston to visit Harry & Family. I live 2 blocks away from LHF, and will drive directly passed it, down the Outlet, just for dinner at Choppers. Yummo!

I agree Anon. I go occasionally to Chopsticks with my sister (who lives at Kingston). We have always enjoyed dining there.

Yes Rita, the dung thing sounded Double Dutch to me.
Your Lee How Fook report go many tongues wagging Rita, with mixed results.
Maybe its a case of:
You can Fook all the people some of the time.
You can Fook some of the people all of the time.
But you can't Fook all of the people all of the time.

On the issue of service and feeling welcome, I think it adds no end to our perception of an experience. No one would argue that Thai Garden turns out the best Thai foods, but I go there a lot - mainly because of Jasmine - an unflustered smile and a greeting like she remembers you - enough to forgive all manners of taste omissions (for example, coriander!)

That's exactly the reason I go there to Thai Gardens - for Jasmines crazy antics!

But why are they closed at the moment? There's a sign on the door, but I haven't stopped to check it out yet.
