Gilt in Sandy Bay

Morning tea at Gilt this morning was surprisingly good.

I say 'surprisingly', because I had made a few mental generalisations about the place from the look of it, and they proved to be totally wrong.

The decor reminded me very much of the old Mummys Coffee Shop, as did the demenour of the proprietor - friendly, casual, all-embracing, laid-back even.

They have an all-day breakfast which I have vowed I'll return to sample, but today it was just a Pesto Muffin and Jasmine Tea (or, to use their menu description, Buddah's Tears, or something similar!).

I asked for more butter for my muffin, more hot water and extra sugar - all of which he got for me with not a sigh of frustration or disgust! My needs and desires were obviously his priority.

It is a great place. I love it and will definitely return there - SOON!

Thanks Gilt. A standout place in poncey Sandy Bay!

Hey, and what about the tasty vegetarian shepherds pie you were served for lunch in my kitchen?? Not worth a mention??

Nellie - if I review that tasty lunch, I'll have to reveal for my readers the address of said venue where they too can eat your delicious meals!

Are you up for the challenge?

Cool we are all underground at Nellies.

Good call Cartouche! I had a chuckle at that one!

Over to you, Nellie.

Hey Rita!

Glad someone else loves Gilt too. I have the pleasure of eating there once a week, and playing there every week. The baked desserts are the bees knees for me.

See you there soon,
Amy

Playing, as in playing a musical instrument, or playing as in 'playing' and having fun?

Whatever, they'll definitely see Rita there again.

Hi Rita,

Playing.. as in picking up my guitar and serenading the customers. :)

I hold a Friday night residency there. We kick the music off at about 8.30pm right through to 10 or 11.

Cheers
Amy
