Saturday drive down the country

Instead of the old Sunday afternoon drive, I decided to do the Saturday one instead, and beat the Sunday rush!

Anyway - it was a gorgeous day on Saturday; picture perfect; clear blue skies with not a cloud in sight. Who the hell knew what kind of weather we'd face the next day! In Tassie, you must always make a point of seizing the day!

So, as I had daughter number 4 to amuse for the day, and as she admitted to not having been to Peppermint Bay (!!! OMG! Can you believe this of a Rita daughter?), I decided her education was sorely lacking, so packed her into the car & headed off down the Channel.

We were a bit late getting started so drove into Woodbridge round 2.00. Luckily, we were not refused service there so ordered steak, salad and fried potatoes for each of us. I was a bit concerned that they might have that traditional cut-off time of 2.00 for pub lunches, but apparently not so there, as some others came after us and they were all served with not an eyelid to be seen batted at all. Good one PB.

It was fine. Nothing to write home about, really. But when push comes to shove, it's a pub; it was a pub meal. I make no secret of the fact I love that place. But yesterday the food wasn't (to be truthful) really that special or different. Lacked that extra pizzazz.

We had decided to dessert at Pecora (at Grandvewe) just a few more kms down the road, as, naturally, Madam hadn't eaten there either. She absolutely loved it - the view, the people (Luke and Katrina were in attendance), the ambience and most of all - the food! We shared 3 desserts. They were out of this world. Madam had a latte, and I had hot chocolate. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.
