What's with the Health Dept?

I'm all for a germ-free life, and hygiene in all its guises, not to mention health - but the snippet I heard the other day about the Health Dept going into a commercial premises and informing the owner that selling their jams and preserves now without the Nutritional Value on them is illegal, strikes me as crazy!

Why would I want someone to tell me the nutritional value of jam when the contents of said jam are very clearly and specifically labelled there in front of me?

It's JAM, peoples! It contains berries, sugar and lemon! I have it on my toast, and love it. I don't NEED to know its nutritional value. I trust absolutely the maker, whom I know personally. Most commercial jams I would doubt the validity of ANY claims they made on the jar - nutritionally or anything else.

But I go out of my way, and spend a fortune, to get the genuine article, made locally from local ingredients, if I haven't managed to make it myself.

Perspective is needed here I feel. The CWA will most certainly go bust if this keeps up!
