Was at yet another Christmas celebration today, when the talk turned to restaurants and food, as it sometimes does!
Jan proceeded to tell us all about an example of great customer service which she experienced last week at Express Cafe, New Town Station Nursery.
She was taken there by a friend for birthday lunch (BTW Jan - I got so carried away with your story, I forgot to say Happy Birthday. Sorry! HB!). Jan noticed the cutlery matched a set she has been trying to build onto at home, and which had recently been discontinued at her usual supplier.
She asked the male working there (maybe it was Steve?) where they'd got their cutlery, and explained why she wanted to know.
He not only told her (Medhursts) but offered to put in an order for what she specifically wanted to add to his cafe's order.
Jan was mega-impressed with this very kind offer, and told the gathering today that not only will she take him up on that, but in saying that to her he has guaranteed she'll tell everyone about the cafe, send everyone she knows there (and she networks extensively let me tell you!), and she will return there next week with more friends when she lunches.
What price one sentence? Bloody good one, Steve.

Well for whats its worth, Express now has in stock permentantly 3 types of Gluten free bread sourced from a bakery at Rokeby. A raisin, a multi grain and a white. I got a taste test the other day as I have been bringing my own bread in for ages.
Now I dont have to!!! YAH!! Also apparently the chef at Express is experimenting with no flour cakes etc to expand their range for those who cant tolerate gluten/wheat.
Zelda - I know you're a huge Express fan. Great that they're looking after their regulars like that. Which bakery at Rokeby?
