Lunch at the Shoreline today was fine. It wasn't a cordon bleu experience, but for a pub meal, it was much better than many I've suffered.
Had the Garlic Prawns for an entree. They were great, and I wished I'd ordered them as a main.
They had a few specials today along with the quite large menu so I chose the Thai Fishcakes with salsa, and my lunch companion had the Chicken and Mushroom Pie (which was in that form I discussed last week - the ramikan jobbie with the pastry on the top!).
He said the pie was OK but needed a bit of spicing up. Mind you, I do find some of my older friends ('older' as in age, not 'older' as in amount of time I've known them) possess palates which have jaded a bit over the years (as has mine, I admit), so that finer, more delicate flavours are often lost on the older members of society!
My fish cakes were satisfactory. I didn't pay any attention to the prices but they weren't extortionate, just normal.
The service was very good - friendly, solicituous and helpful. The dining room was humming - all oldies. There is obviously a good pensioners specials deal happening there! And that's great. I applaud the fact that they can attract so many in over the lunch period in suburban Howrah.
I had a few comments to add about the female toilets but called up the hotel, got the Managers email address and sent him an email. Hopefully my small issues will be rectified.
All in all - for a suburban pub: easy to get to, easy to park, very pleasant surroundings and environment, friendly staff, reasonable food - I reckon Shoreline's good value.

Amy - saw you, heard you - you were fantastic! Why the hell aren't you performing on the world stage?
Ah well, I guess Gilt will just have to continue to support your talent!
Seriously, you were so good, and such an original artist. I hope you make mega bucks from the album.
It was a pleasure to meet you.
