Invitation

Rita takes great pleasure in inviting you to a Bloggers dinner at Marque IV restaurant on Wednesday 20th February 2008 at 7.00 pm.

We will be dining off the 9 course Degustation Menu, at a cost of $135 per person.

In Melbourne last year, they held a bloggers banquet, where they each prepared some fine food, met at a convenient location and everyone shared food and chatted and drunk together. It sounded like a fine concept to me. Maybe this could be a step towards a fun meal like that?

Please note we need to avoid that awkward time before everyone leaves, when all want to pay separately. We’d love to see you, but can you please make sure you have bought enough hard cash to cover your food and drinks?

You can confirm your acceptance by using the Email Rita facility on this Blog site, before Wed 13th February 2008. Please include a contact phone number for confirmation purposes.

Wow Marque IV - very nice! I'm sure you'll have a ball.

The Melbourne Bloggers Banquet cemented our online community of like minded Epicureans. We certainly are a diverse group marked by a certain flamboyance and exuberance.

In addition to driving more traffic to all our sites, the Bloggers Banquet forged some strong friendships. I that in part, the success was thanks to it being an informal affair.

It can be daunting meeting people for the first time and the come as you are, bring a plate, use the Veg Out Community Garden's wood fired oven scenario worked for us to overcome shyness. It also meant that the time frame of attendance was up to the individual. In planning I believe Ed was mindful that there was no need to face up to last minute drop outs and aggrieve a venue as a consequence.

Many of our bloggers write about their kitchen triumphs or catastrophes so BYO food to share allowed for the passion to manifest physically. The casual nature of things and location evolved from the observation that a number of our bloggers are students and others do not have cars.

Now that Christmas is out of the way, we are hoping to hold another gathering soon and interest suggests that numbers will swell each time.

Best wishes to all the Tassie Food Bloggers! I know you'll have plenty to talk about when you meet.

Thanks Sticky - great to have that feedback about your banquet. It sounded like a good time was had by all - not to mention the food!

Tassiegal - I'm puzzling about what exactly those noises mean?

Rita - its a combination of excitement, abject fear and my ear ache intruding. ;-)
