Sounds like an Australian country pub menu item form the fifties Rita!

I want to invite both you gentlemen to join me sharing this delightful meal.

Come on fellas! Live on the wild side!

Mind you, in the UK, some pubs still serve chicken curry with rice and chips!
Curry in middle of oblong plate, with rice one end and chips t'other.
And at Kingston a few years ago a cafe was serving up ``Thai chicken curry with rice and bread and butter.''
Yes, white sliced with butter.
So, we are not out of the woods yet.

Yes, YOU should go Rita....as Gobbler says, take one for the team!

Erm ok. Whatever floats your boat. Chips curry and rice Sir G, was always known as curry half and half, best enjoyed (appreciated) after a good session down the pub.
Speaking of such peculiarities, it is perhaps worth pointing out that most chippies in the UK have either kebabs or a full china menu takeaway style on offer. Something you don't really see here.

Sounds more appetising than PB.

Sir Grumpy - where did Gobbler tell me to take one for the team?
cartouche - don't get him started please!
Anon - you sound like you are taking the PB review on face value?

Oh, why not Rita. I happen to share Sir g@s passion for abit of decent no frills food. After all its seldom that people cook for me. Yes thats right, everybody else gets the good stuff, me I end up with the magi noodles.

Rita said...

Back to the Chinese theme there, Cartouche - with the Maggi noodles!

Anon 10.34My neighbor said they served bread & butter at Kylie Kwongs dinner at PB instead of rice!

Fusion? I'm confused. Maybe Chow Mein is a new type of potato and you read it wrong. Then it became a duo of potato. Hey we're back in the eighties now!

I'll take a chance and say the mash was more likely 'smash' or 'deb'

c'mon, it wouldn't be THAT bad would it???
I've served stirfried vegies at home with mashed potato for dinner, and loved how the spicy saltiness of the veg is countered by the creamy mash.
Dare I say, better than steamed rice...?

Rita, I now think Gobbler said taking one for the team to Purple Goddess (she of true grit and bravery in her food adventures) when she ate a rather unusual pie.
sir grumpy

(Sorry, Rita the format has changed again so could do it old way...help)

Rita said...

My god Sir G - you're right! I was just puzzling about what the hell you were talking about there in your last comment about the format - when I noticed it HAS changed from this morning! How tricky! You can still comment as Anon tho, by the looks?

Anonymous said...

Does it change by itself, or is it like the light bulb at a psychiatrist's ...it has to want to change first?
Sir Grumpy discombobulated

We always had bread and butter with my Mums chow mein. Just doesn't taste right without it now.
Dined at Kawasemi last night. All our main courses were serve with a little rice and mashed potato. What's that about? Tasted great though. Second trip for us and even better than the first.

Christina - how did you get your name to show in the Comments bit? Can you please explain for Sir G? I tried and have failed - computer dumbo that I am! It's got me beat. I surrender!
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME AND SIR GRUMPY??

I clicked on the name/url button, then entered my name. I wasn't sure either but I just thought I'd try. Hope I helped.

Sir G - do as Christina suggested - click on the Name/URL button, write "Sir Grumpy Bootilicious" or whatever, then "Publish your comment".

Oh, thanks, gels, I'm having a go now. Well in a second.
PS all this talk of mash had a brainwashing effect on me.
I just polished of a plate of pinkeyes, boiled and roughed-up a bit (like me) and served with big dollops of butter and parsley.
Oh my it wuz gude. Now, here goes with that thingy for the names....
