Take a bow - NATHAN - from Jackman & McRoss New Town. Wonderful customer service from him today. "Tell my boss that" he responded when I complimented him on his fine service skills. So - if you're reading, J & M powers-that-be, Nathan is excellent at his job! He's a keeper!
Ditto at Pecora yesterday, when Rita took her Mum and Dad there for Dad's birthday lunch. The food and service were out of this world. Mum and Dad left, scratching their heads as to why this temple of magnificent food wasn't packed to the rafters, with queues of diners waiting anxiously to be allowed in to dine. Dad couldn't find enough words in his vocab to express descriptions of the fine, delicate flavours exhibited by Luke in his food on each of the plates bought to our table at regular intervals by either Luke or Katrina.
They will return there next week, dragging along others in their circle of friends who appreciate fabulous food.
BTW - I'm starting a side bar here on the blogsite for great customer service examples in Hobart. If you are on the receiving end of an OTT example of this, please email me on the Email Rita facility here on your right, and we'll add that person to the Blog Roll of Honour for Wonderful Customer Service.....

Nathan, of course is sorely missed in Cygnet Rita, where he delighted guests at the Red Velvet.
Its great that he is getting some recognition at long last.
Most impressive, Gobbler, and Red Velvet's loss is J & McR's gain.
He might be good at front of house service but he was shite as a cook!!Or else Cygnet would still have him at the defunct Conservatory
I wouldn't know anything about that, Anon, I'm sorry. All I do here is call it as I see it on the day. He gave me over-the-top fabulous customer service so I publicly acknowledged it. One of my passions is the joy at finding someone providing outstanding customer service.
I think the roll of honour is fantastic idea Rita. I hope that Chris is our waiter from last week. I was upset I couldn't remember his name. Feel even worse now I know that it's almost the same as mine. Duh.
Yes Christina - Chris IS our waiter from last week and I know you agree with me about his exceptional waiting skills.
anon 10.05 here again...yes nathan apparently was "poached" from the Red Velvet to do wonders with the conservatory...didnt happen as he wasn't as good as he thought he was...although obviously good at front of house so at least he's found his niche
I think you are being too harsh anon 10.05
There were a number of reasons why the conservatory didn't work.
The owner was never committed. He was also rude to & ambivalent about the customers. He didn't staff it appropriately & consequently it was left up to just two people to do the whole thing, Nathan being one of them.
Cygnet is a small town & has seven places the serve food so there’s a lot of competition.
There not a lot of money in the town & generally people don’t eat out much at night & when they do it’s usually the pub. I wasn’t a fan of the food Nathan did either but it alone was not the reason why this business failed.
Nathan is fantastic and I think that given the right environment his ccoking is pretty good too.
A true gentleman in an industry with too few.
Rita I think that character attacks like those posted above devalue this blog and I for one would prefer you removed them. The risk is that by not doing so you may attract many more personal attacks.
Anon hides behind a nameless mask - at least have the strength of character to step into the light and post under your own name.
The poor chap has no right of reply and is denied natural justice. A foundation stone of our society.
Remember just because he works front of house he is not public property.
What is fact is that on the day he served Rita she felt his service was of a high standard.
Cool Room - temp rising
I think that anon has been dealt with very well, Cool Room.
I think by their very posting they reveal themselves only too well.
Let them have a go.. too sanitised a site and it might become less interesting.
Some people just don't like others to get a pat on the back. Miserable gits.
But let's keep telling it like it is ...good and bad while trying to see that in the bigger picture.
Well guys, I think Anon 10.05 has truly been told now. Cool Room - you are attributing way more talent and computer expertise than I actually possess to expect me to know how to delete a comment on my blogsite! I did it once by accident, and tried to do it again the other day - but failed miserably!
Me thinks you miss the point Sir Grump - the victim in this has no right of reply, Rita set out to reward good service but has unwittingly allowed the poor chap to be defamed. It's not about sanitising the blog. Your hide maybe thick Sir Grump however my guess is that any suggestion that you had carnal knowledge of an underage cheese burger may send you running to seek redress.
Don't get me wrong Grump - Public figures like GP are open slather anytime.
My last post on this subject !
Cool Room - "who left the bloody door open !"
Must say while I respect cool rooms comments and get where he's coming from,{and enjoy them immensely}, I agree with Sir Grumpy the Fair but True.
Rita is more pleasant and tactful than anyone I know. But I wouldn't want to cross her. That's not quite right either. I believe what you see is what you get with our friend and she is more than able to stick up for what she beleives in, also quite ready to give an honest opinion at all times,
I respect her opinion greatly and even though I mat sometimes not agree with them, I am so glad that I feel it's a true outlook instead of a sanitised version.
I'd hate that to change.
Put your redress on baby, cos we're going out tonight.
GP deserves a fair go too, Cool Room. Everyone equal in the law etc, etc.
But yes, it stinks, someone raining on another's parade like that.
As for my hide....it's flawless to cover my gazelle-like body...not too thick, not too thin. I'll risk another round of shortbread, I think my figure can afford it. Put kettle on muvva....
Christina - shit! I can't hide anywhere from that one! Don't worry about crossing Rita! All my kids will be laughing their heads off at THAT! Rita is totally harmless. She tries to be as honest as you can be in public, but always mindful of the laws of libel - as reminded by, I think, Cool Room, a few weeks ago.
It's a toss-up between feeling you have the right to express your opinion honestly, combined with the desire to respect others. I feel it's like walking a tightrope.
In person, you're right - what you see is exactly what you get.
Yay! Go Chris.
