Rialto Restaurant, Burnie
OK everyone - drum roll here - Rita is about to make the BIGGEST call of her spagetti-eating life - the above mild-mannered looking Spagetti Rialto (Bolognese) was THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE.
I'm sorry to those more delicate souls amongst you who can't abide blaspheming but it was fucking fantastic! There is no other way I can highlight to you the amazingness of that (entree sized) plate of pasta.
GP reports in his "Tasting Tasmania" bible (which naturally I took away with me up the NW coast for quick reference!) that the locals get withdrawl symptoms if they don't get their weekly dose of Rialto. Well, I fully endorse that. I'd go further and say it's an institution, and most deservedly so.
It was simply described on the menu as consisting of cream and bolognese sauce, and was priced at $11. Best $11 ever spent. I would baulk at driving 5 hours again to Burnie just for a meal of pasta, but I would seriously consider it!
Be warned though - you actually DO need to book, preferably the day before. It is really busy, and popular with the locals - understandably.

Rialto is great...and booking is definately essential. Have managed to get in there once and really enjoyed the food.
Cream in Bolognaise? Hmmm....
A lot of recipes I've seen for bolognaise have milk in them.
Our favourite at home has plenty of cracked black pepper, brandy and cream. Very rich, very yummy!
bolognese.........it's italian
