Home Hill will start doing weekend breakfasts soon. Why not make it a day, and travel down the Channel, pick up your local fresh fruit and vegetables, then head across to Home Hill and catch a bit of brekky. By the time you hit the city again, you’ll be well rested and refreshed.

Home Hill Restaurant is closing for its winter break, reopening on July 29 and shortly thereafter introducing gourmet breakfasts on weekends from 8-11am. The cellar door will remain open seven days for wine tastings, soup, cheese platters and coffee while the restaurant is closed.

My lovely husband decided to treat me to lunch recently and chose Home Hill, as our first trip there years go had been pleasant. Unfortunately the experience was not a positive one. After an excellent starter of pork belly, we both ordered eye fillet which was served with raw potato gratin. A second go at it proved even worse as the steak was not to our order and yes, served with the same raw potato!! The service was inattentive and showed a lack of concern/interest in the food being served. The coffee was diabolical - a macchiato turned up as a long black. We left with a very bad taste in our mouths - literally and metaphorically. There are too many great places to go in Hobart - don't waste your time here!!!

Finally someone is being honest about this very overrated restaurant. Rude kid hating owners, overpriced food & shambolic service. The experience we had was embarrassingly bad & we will never go back, it was a joke.
