Us girls hadn't met up for about a year so a meal out was called for. We had straightforward requirements: great restaurant; fabulous food; perfect service; wonderful chef; extensive wine list. Where else but Monty's?
All of us either are, or have, worked in hospitality, together and separately. Two of us are still working in the training area of hospitality. We didn't go there to be critical but it was inevitable that at some stage of proceedings, the subject of our Monty's experience would come up. It did!
We all agreed that we were overwhelmed by the absolutely faultless food and service there tonight. Nat, Matt and staff are true hospitality professionals. They are the shining lights for anyone wanting to experience what it really means to have your every wish fulfilled.
Kim's Beef Cheek Ravioli entree was not quite cooked through. There was no quibbling or embarrassment or dispute there from management. Kim wasn't angry or pissed off or obnoxious. Staff were present everywhere anyway, so noticed instantly that something was not right, approached her and rectified it immediately. In a short time, a new dish was bought out, which she proclaimed to be perfect. Not a problem.
This place kicks arse. We all agreed. I know we've all got to watch our spending in these times of high interest rates, food and petrol, but if you're reading this blog, that means you're more than a bit interested in food, and you should get yourself along to Monty's.
I wrote about Monty's only a few weeks ago (April 22nd) so haven't gone into too much detail about the menu items tonight. If you want to read the previous review, go to the Rita's Bite website and check it out.

Rita- the real question is how many of Kirby's elderflower conncotions did you down??? ;-)
Ahhh TG - you know me so well! I think it was 4!
I hope the elderflower concoctions weren't alcoholic Rita. I would hate to think of you getting PFO.
Cheers
Curly
Curly - I have such great role models for PFO, I couldn't even comtemplate going there!
So, no, the elderflower concotions were most definitely not alcoholic!
He calls them 'Sunset's. They are nectar of the gods!
errr the Sunsets was my fault - when we were there last Friday (did you try the veal? it was stunning!) Natalie told me it was about time I named the drink - seeing Kirby first made them up for me. So I christened them Elderflower sunsets.....and yes they are definately the nectar of the gods!
I had the Beef Cheeks Ravioli for entree, and the Duck for Mains, then finished up with the Crepes Suzette.
All, of course, delicious!
I had the duck - it was lovely wasnt it?
I had average gnocchi and crepes suzette from 1985.
Good service but uninspired food.
Went to Monty's the other day. Talk about inverted comma over-usage! Why do they do this? Cheese platter wasn't great. Some were a bit underripe. It's nice to have a lot of cheeses but they have to be ripe enough to use...
