At last - here in Hobart - Yum Cha!!
Yes, all you Yum Cha lovers. We finally might have the Yum Cha we have been wanting (and needing) for the past 30 years!
Many have started out with burning ambitions of introducing this extremely popular meal on the mainland to us deprived Hobartians. Unfortunately our much smaller population here in Tassie, and Hobart, has meant that each time it has started, it has also closed down a few months later.
I feel the time is now right, and we have the larger numbers of people in Hobart who not only know about Yum Cha, but love it.
And when you go, don't just select the known dishes, like dim sims. Try the things you've never tried before. Be bold - and go where no man, or woman, has gone before!
So - it's up to you guys. If you are a Yum Cha lover, you must support it. If you've never had it before - try it! You must go along and eat, with family and friends. You must go back time and time again. Don't just talk about it. DO IT!
The Yum Cha at Me Wah starts next weekend. It will be on Saturdays and Sundays from 11.00 till 3.00.
Book now and reserve your table. The more, the merrier!

yay!
In faraway Britain, Rita, when I was but a spring chicken I used to get the Chinese Lunch Special.
I got a receipt and my employer reimbursed me. It was a perk of a job with strange hours.
I often used to get into The Shanghai at 1.30 ot 1.45....just before the 2pm lunch deadline.
So, I was often there when they put up the Closed sign and took their own lunch.
The waiters would sit round a big table as trolley loads of dim sum where wheeled out for them.
It looked great and I often asked if I could try it, but no they politely told me it was staff only.
So I looked on as steamed and fried dumpling were hauned onto plates of stir-fried greens and hungrily devoured, with gulps of rice.
I've still never managed to get any!
Maybe it's time at the Mee Wah.
I agree Sir G. Now IS a pretty good time to try it! Get thee hence!
