Some of the random contents of Rita’s head tonight:
*Has everyone seen those Entertainment Books that you can buy for $50? Has anyone got one? Do you think you get value from them?
These are the books that contain vouchers for various discounts at, amongst other things, local restaurants and cafes. I believe you also get an Entertainment Gold card as part of the deal which gets you a decent discount from the venues named thereon.
A friend swears by his freshly purchased gold card, and as proof of the justification of his card, waved under my nose a receipt (dated last Monday) from Hallams Waterfront Restaurant in Launceston which was originally to have totalled $110 for 2 meals plus drinks, but with the discount from his Gold Card, it was marked down to $78. Hallams had crossed off the cheaper (of the two) main course meal cost on the bill.
I’d be interested in feedback from anyone about these cards/books.
*Popped in to the newly managed Citrus Moon Café at Kingston Beach today to check it out. The new proprietors have some great plans for the future, so Rita will be returning down the track once they have a chance to put their plans into action.
*Dinnered tonight at my old favourite, the controversial Lee How Fook at Lindisfarne for yet another Sunday night dinner. Had Linda’s wise recommendation of Singapore Noodles and Combination Something. Yummy.
*I’ve been devoting many sleepless hours to thoughts of different people’s views, opinions and reactions to different eating places. I’m here to concede that I think the general concensus of opinion about the service at Le Provencal is correct. I think that you get the great service there if you are either a regular at that particular restaurant, or if you go along there with a regular.
Please tell us if you’re someone who has NOT been a regular and got great service there, but it seems that, unfortunately, that’s the way it goes.
*Rita has got a much-needed holiday planned and booked for the month of August. It includes 2 weeks of eating my way round Southern Tasmania, and checking out many of those places I’ve wanted to eat at and not had the chance, as well as a week in Port Douglas with part of the family. We have rented a 3 level house complete with pool. We can’t wait to shed the winter woollies! There’ll be no photos of the pool action on this blog site, but the food is a different matter! Hurry up August!

Rita - I have one of those books and its paid for itself already. 25% off at Onba (that was a good $20 off the bill), 25% off at Kawasemi ($10), 2 for 1 main course at the Botanic Gardens ($17), 20% off at Raincheck ($10 or so off).
Add into that there are discounts to attractions such as the shot tower and also accomadation discounts interstate and in the Pacific, if you use it even say 4 times at high priced resturants you have got your moneys worth. I got mine from St Davids - $50.
how much do we have to pay for pool photos?

Rita, have a lovely relaxing & well deserved holiday.
I LOVE the Entertainment Book!!!
So many restaurants, cafes, entertainment activities, accommodation, etc. are represented.
My book was a gift and I get pleasure out of it every time I enjoy a great outing at a discounted price.
It offers a great opportunity to try new eateries. If the experience is good I return and tell my friends.
If, however, the experience was not up to standard, I'm very pleased not to have paid full price.
Participants are listed free of charge so it can be very effective advertising.
The gold card is for the "fine dining" establishments......I'm guessing that is so the diner is not embarrased handing over a voucher!
As far as I know it is available in most States and New Zealand so it is also useful for travelling.
$10 of the cost goes to charity. That has to be good.

Whatever!!!.....I love it!
