Mark tells me their web site will be up and running very soon. Working on it as we speak.

Visited Plum for the first time for dinner last weekend with hubby and son. Very impressed with food and service. We all had entree and main and everything was tasty, well-presented and a decent-sized serve. Fantastic flavour combinations! My son had the best seafood chowder I have ever seen. Would have loved to try dessert but too full! Lovely complimentary bread and truffles with coffee too! My only complaint was it was a freezing cold night and the place despite looking cozy, was very drafty. We will certainly be returning in the near future.

Ate at Plum on Saturday night, after trying to book two other restaurants who were fully booked, a good sign for eating out on in Hobart for the restaurant industry. However, for Plum, there were only 5 tables for the duration that we were there.

I am still not sure how I rate our experience at Plum. We were greeted and shown to our table (which we could choose because the place was empty bar one table) and promptly given our menus. We were not asked if we wanted a drink. We were then brought water, and again not offered a drink and then oil and butter was brought out and again not offered a drink. We then had a waiter (I think our fourth for the short 10 minutes we had been there) and our order taken. We had to ask to order a drink. We were then brought bread to go with our oil and butter (bloody good bread too!).

The food was excellent but far too large. Seafood chowder (with more great bread) and pork belly - both entrees at least the size of a normal main course, but great.

Again, had to ask to order another drink to go with our entrees. Husband ordered a glass of riesling, and I would be interested in the etiquette that goes with ordering glasses of wine, because the waiter brought out two bottles, emptied one into the glass, and then filled it to the appropriate level with a new bottle of wine. I woudl have thought that this wouldnt be done, mixing wines opened at different times presumably?

Main courses were excellent but again far too big... braised lamb and duck. We also had to order 'duck fat roasted vegetables and sea salt' as a side because it just sounded far too good to miss out on, and didnt disappoint, but werent needed because mains actually came with enough veg and were so bloody big.

Unfortunately no room for dessert.

So, not really sure of our experience at Plum.
