I know you'll think I'm joking, but in Kingston, the only thing I can think of that's opened is Video City, I think even Maccas shuts down! Scottish people? Ah, we'll eat anything!
So - are you going back up north for Xmas Day, Miles, or is this you offering to cater for our Scottish visitors on Xmas Day? Let me warn you first that they are wanting traditional fare.
Can't these jocks eat where they are staying? If it is a hotel, fine. With friends, rellies, fine.
I mean come on.
Nobody is going to cook haggis, neeps and tatties on Xmas day in Hobart, much as we like our tartan friends.
Give tham some deep-fried pizza, followed by deep-fried Mars Bars and washed down with the national drink, Irn Bru,followed by Tunnocks Caramel Wafers.
That'll keep their sporrans pert.
Sir G - our visitors have booked a cottage, and have just found out it has no oven, hence their email to me.
You should be more hospitable!
Rita, Jocks don't need ovens, it's all takeaway there.
Lend them a microwave and a few Findus or Bird's Eye frozen meals and they'll be over the moon.
Crikey, the Jocks PRIDE themselves on not cooking. Didn't you know.
Even Jamie Oliver has written them off. I think he got as far north as Rotherham with his last daft idea.
Has anyone been to either of the new places in Salamanca, Plum and Rockwall? Have you heard anything? They have both popped up and I'm way too busy at the moment to get there so i need to eat vicariously.
Being Jocks they probably negotiated a discount for no oven and then someone would feed them for free.
We're open for a long breakfast...for family & friends...they're a bunch of crazies & the Prof's cooking...public welcome if they're game...ahh me, bogans & academics in the same room sharing the Xmas spirit...it's gonna all go to
custard !
You guys are way too uncharitable with our Scottish friends. Rita's family background is Scottish (Clan Macpherson), with the genes still visible in this latest batch of 4th generation Australian grandbabies born to Rita's offspring being red-headed and blue eyed! It's all good for them anyway, as when I did my ring-around yesterday, I pre-empted them and made a booking (for them) at 373. They have accepted Rita's invitation to take up the booking for Xmas lunch, so I expect some very happy campers. Restaurant 373 - please don't let me down on Xmas Day lunch.
Anon 11.23 - I hope to check out these places soon, but would love it if someone else could give us an idea of their experiences at either venue.
Ut si - well done, and the best of British to you!
Sorry, Rita, couldn't help it!
I knew you'd look after the tartan brigade.
If the worst came to the worst I MIGHT even have offered them a Christmas feed at Grumpy Towers.
Am relieved to hear they are fixed up.
Some of my best friends are jocks.
And Lady Fair's clan is Robertson, so there.
She asked if they were bringing any white puddings with them (the Scots would know this).
She hankers for white pudding (steady...) and you can't get it here.
Yes Anon, I know I'm a bit of a white pudding myself....
Rita- dunno if Nat mentioned but she is already fielding bookings for NEXT Christmas.....I dont know if I should be mildly worried that I wont get a table NEXT Christmas now or estactially happy that they are getting such a lovely well deserved rep.
I was going to say the comments here were getting suspiciously racialist! We're a generous people, I think you'll find the mean Scot to be a propaganda myth from the Jacobite era, we give double per head of capita what England gives to charity, and our food is excellent! Honestly you deep fry one Mars Bar...
Kuzina was advertising xmas lunch yesterday in the mercury.
