Now the carnival is over......

Rita has returned from Sydney – refreshed, renewed and revitalized, and all ready to attack life as we know it again!

The main highlights of my trip naturally featured, or were based around, food. A beautiful lunch and brunch were partaken of. My sister and I spent a lot of time together, shopping, eating and chatting as sisters do.

I trust you have all been keeping active in the world of food too. We’ll be resuming discussions here again for those who might be interested.

Meanwhile I have added some holiday snaps above, just to prove I did actually leave the state! If we were back 40 years ago, I’d be boring you with my slide show of holiday pics, so consider yourselves lucky!

Christop left the following review of a restaurant in Launceston while I was away:
Rita, As promised quick soldiers 5 relating to the fantastic meal that Nat and I had at Rossilli last Saturday fortnight. We came for the evening meal, venue, host and surroundings most welcoming and the menu was predominately tapas.Nat and I had Battered trevalla pieces served with (I think a lime mayonnaise), it's been two weeks! Balled squid rings and baked potato (patata) pieces in jackets.Dessert was a "cream brulee" To surmise the food and service were exceptional and because it was a quiet night we had the pleasure of a more intimate service from the cameriere!!! T'was a great outing highly recommended. Hope your birthday week was grand.

Thanks Chris.

Just had a quick meal at Silt which is in the Launceston Seaport area near Peppers, Mud etc.

Great service, Great food, everybody working hard!

I also enjoyed Silt in early March.
The beer batter on the trevalla was the best I've had for a long time.
Have a sister and and Aunt who live in Launny and they seem to have made Silt their favourite haunt. Auntie raves about the Caeser with either Salmon or Prawns and sister Kell loves the calamari.
Love the 42o South wine served there also.
I have it on good authority that the gentleman that runs the show up there is previously from Stillwater.

Since we're on the subject of Launie, I was up there this weekend and had a late supper on Friday at the Cataract Bistro. Although they had a big party on, the service for me as a single female diner was delightful. I just had a seafood pizza - fresh, tasty. plenty of prawns and salmon - and a green salad. This was also fresh and included cucumber, and surprisingly. julienned green beans, with a lovely dressing. Along with two beers and a coffee, I paid thirty-something dollars. Great value. My only disappointment was that the tiramisu I had on my last visit (utterly divine) is no longer on the menu...

Looooove the Bistro Rita II.
We've visited once, and it was fantastic. My little Launceston dwelling subjsister raves about it.
Consistently good I'm told.

Do you know I can't leave a comment now with thinking of Cartouche (hope I'm right, sure it was him), waving a magic wand a la Harry Potter, and shouting the magic word!

Obviously didn't say it correctly with the typo in my comment!

Rita, Happy Birthday chook.
Christina congratulations on the curry, and I love a good curry, its probably one of my most favourite foods that evokes for me such memories of hanging out with my mate at the back of his families restaurant.

And on that note it was me and 'Squetsm' being tonight word to spirit me into blog land.

Well done Christina.
We can all say we knew her before she got famous! Will it change her I wonder?

Rita said...

Has it changed her? Hell yeah! I just finished reading the account of her disgusting drunken behaviour assaulting a Richmond footy player in the corridor of International Hotel! Get a grip Christina!

Talking of North, was up there after Easter and discovered that Hobnobs has redeveloped into a cafe... which is a darn shame as their restuarant meals were to die for. I guess being a cafe they get more day trade but I didn't have a chance to try it and encourage everyone Westbury way to try Hobnobs Cafe as the food from the dining side was fab, then let us know what their cafe service is like. Thanks!
