Went here! Day 4 of operation, looks great though.

Menu - a bit more extensive than Flathead, and also has non-seafood options on there.

Love flathead, so can only assume this will be fantastic - at last a good seafood restaurant back on the waterfront!

PS I'm amazed you have the time to go out Rita, I would have assumed you were at home playing with the TM

Thanks for the comments LC. The TM is delivered tonight - so the TM will take over my life as of first thing tomorrow!

where is flathead on the waterrfront?
Went past Salamanca today and couldn't find it.
And what's happened to Sticky Fingersd ice-cream down there?
A certain younger member of the clan was most upset we couldn't find it last weekend.

Sir G - it's called Blue Eye, and is on the ground floor of the Silos - where a mexican 'restaurant' called Tacos used to be...

Thanks, Anon re Sticky. I hope they find a new venue, we'll miss that place.

Sticky Fingers are selling their goods in North Hobart. Maybe competing with Cold Rock, which by the way I find way over priced, but have yet to taste so may be worth it. Always end up over at Fish 349 for Cheesecake and Ferrero Rocher Gelato because the line is soooo long at Cold Rock.
Can't wait to try Blue Eye. Joff holds a special place with me!
Lovin that my "magic word" is parstie, at least it's foodie.

Cold Rock was busy on a freezing, wet day a couple of weeks ago Christina.
Their ice cream seemed just too sweet but youngest generation didn't complain!
I love my ice cream, with Valhalla, Sticky Fingers and that organic stuff Ice Cream from the Valley way up there.
I only buy scoops and very small tubs, cos if I buy a big 'un I eats a big 'un and that ain't good for me figure.

Heard a rumour that RB has left Drysdale...

RB has left Drysdale. She has picked up a great job in the International student part of Poly.

Just what Hobart needs!
Another F & C chop.
Yawn.

Went there yesterday, actually not just another F&C place. Menu more focused on grilled fish dishes, including a seafood platter to share. There's also a decent porterhouse steak!

Today my family and I had lunch at Blue-eye unfortunately we were less than impressed with the selection and quality of the food. The service wasn’t exactly great either as our empty glasses sat in front of us for 10 minutes or more in which time we could have easily drank another drink. My husband had the flathead in tempera batter unfortunately the batter wasn’t cooked through so it was left with a floury soggy texture. I had the Blue eye pie which wasn’t at all what I expected from the menu description it was basically a dish of mash potato with probably a cups worth of fish mostly salmon in the bottom quite tasty but not at all what I expected. When deciding where we would go for lunch we hopped on the net and search for menus and to our surprise given the flash layout of the “fish fish” web site the menu option was not working so we took the chance and headed into town. As I mentioned at the start the menu is very limited.
Would try agin if the menu changes.

Well with RB and KW gone from Drysdale, I am beginning to wonder who is running it now?

Bring back the 1980's, when the students who walked out the door of TAFE were true professionals... Nowadays the training is not as highly-regarded.

I was unaware that RB and KW were 'running' Drysdale?

Anonymous said...

This blog seems to have plenty of RB/KW haters, not sure why?

Anonymous said...

I dont even know who thay are yet alone hate them? I just questioned your view that somehow they were 'running' Drysdale. Your generalization dismisses the efforts of many hardworking and committed pple at Drysdale.
The hysteria in your response over your imagined 'many haters on this blog' is an indication that are not comfortable with differing points of opion-have a BEX and a lie down.

Dinning at Blue Eye Restaurant I purchased the (Seafood Platter for 2) I was very dissapointed in the quantity and price compared to a time before I purchased the same dish. I left feeling hungry and ripped off.

......is it just me or has the price of fresh seafood gone up?

Anonymous said...

Yes its risen a shocking amount since 1952, which would be about when you are basing it.

House prices doubled in 5 years

Fuel 50% dearer in 5 years

wages on the up to cope with the above.

Power prices up 40 %

global financial crisis.

Of course the price of Fish has gone up Einstien !!!
