Marmalade

Lunched here today, but won't review at this stage, as I only had a sandwich. Will return and eat a proper meal soon.....but all looked refreshed, and good, there.

For those who are wondering, this is the newly renamed Marmalade, previously Kaos, with a new owner, Nicholas.
Pictured above is Dan, an employee from the Kaos era, and still working there plying his (excellent) trade for Marmalade.

Speaking of which, I have a couple of kilos of seville oranges here, waiting for me to turn into marmalade. Having never done this before, does anyone have a great recipe they'd like to share?

By the way, the ex-owner of Kaos now works at Drysdale (well Im pretty sure it was Anne) ... I was in there having lunch last week.

Drysdale appear to have lost quite a few staff this year, although I was impressed with what I was served last week.

PB re-opened on Monday this week after much fanfare.
Why then do they still have
Poor-Form-Mans old menu on the website? Is this new mob fair dinkum or what?

Restaurants commonly don't update websites for months (even years) which is so annoying!

I had breakfast at Marmalade last Saturday and it was great. It feels fresh, nice low key music, attentive staff...and the coffee?pretty good. The toast was served with this very tasty marmalade which the waiter said was seville orange..but I could taste honey in it! weird combo. But I'll be back none the less. Another good weekend alternative when Lansdowne is full.

I was a fan of Kaos in its earlier days but had gone off it in recent times. Marmalade is a total turn around - clean, light and fresh. I love the use of the back room (formerly Soak) as an extension of the cafe and love the new signs and colour scheme. It just seems so fresh and vibrant and the food is great too. Lots of vegetarian options which is brilliant for me and the risotto and lentil burgers are favourites already. I think the new owner used to be a teacher - he is doing a fantastic job.

We got stuck with sloppy eggs and a stupidly long wait for coffee. Won't be back.

Last anon, why not 'tell the owner' what you think and maybe they can improve things?
