Waratah Pub

Well - we've done 'serious' for the last few posts. Time to talk food again - so, as the title tells you, it was the turn of the Waratah Hotel today.

Along with a bunch of faithful Rita followers, who decided to pay homage to Rita's day of birth (belatedly) in the only way possible, we trecked up to the Waratah on the recommendation of Tony, king of all things Bad. Tony has told me a few times that his wife and mum regularly eat and enjoy it at the Waratah, so that's where we went.

Unfortunately, the best I can say about all meals had there by our table today is that the music was good! The Bee Gees really resonate for me!

I'm sorry, cos I held out hope of another pub dining secret to pass on to my readers, but the meals there today were extremely average. And, for the prices charged, that's too sad.

I had read in the Merc a while back about a new chef, exciting new menu, blah blah. If that was the case, the tarnish wore off quickly.

I had Silverside. It was $8, which I considered a good price. For what I got, it WAS fine, but everyone elses meals left a lot to be desired.

Combine that with that "Geez, is it 12.05 already, time to go home soon" attitude from the waitress makes it another place I really can't see us hurrying back to. Pity, because the dining room itself is a really pleasant place to eat a counter meal in, along with the interesting Rolf Harris painting on one wall, with the signature reading very much like Rolf Hazziz painted it!

Try again Rita!

Yes those pieces on new chef, new everything get our hopes up, Rita.
Most often they are not so hot.
But we have to keep plugging away to find the keepers and stars for our repertoire of eateries.

Maybe Rolf Harris has taken over in the kitchen too.
Tie me kangaroo down sport!
