Finding ourselves with a spare half hour between business appointments, a few workmates and I popped in to Jean-Pascals this afternoon for a coffee.
I was interested in checking out the scene there, as I'm a huge Jean-Pascal fan and usually patronise the Carlton St (New Town) store, and sometimes the Goulburn St one. I reckon Jean-Pascal's Chocolate Eclairs are the best in the world. No kidding here! I've been known to guts down four of his eclairs in 5 minutes. I could stretch to about 10 I think, but moderation in all things is probably more advisable really.
Anyway - I found the quick trip to the Bellerive store fine. The boys had coffee - it was good, they said. My hot chocolate was, strictly speaking, a 'warm chocolate' not a hot chocolate, but I'm too scared to whinge about this these days 'cos the wait staff always come back at me with the blurb about the milk temperature! (I think that's more relevant to coffee, not hot chocs, but it's not worth the argument quite frankly). The service was great. Our waitperson was friendly, efficient and "normal". They were quite busy, and the other customers around us seemed quite happy with things there. (I always take note of these details!)
So, all in all, give Jean-Pascals in Bellerive a try if you're in the area shopping, or pop over that side of the river for a drive.

My experiences at Jean Pascals has varied from quite ordinary to really good. There is a real mix of waiting staff and the few times I have called, there has been a substantial amount of patrons but not overly busy and the cuisine is great and reasonably priced. Bellerive needs more eateries like this as the eastern shore does not have a lot to offer.
P.S Don’t let them boil the milk Rita :)

Hi, I was in the Uni Revue and just wanted to let you know that equals 60 years.
Peace.
Hi Rita, love your website and can not believe I have not seen it before!
In regards to Jean Pascal Bellerive, I have had similar experiences to another comment about the service. Either they are attentive or you are struggling to get service. Food is nice, but the last few visits of bad service have put me off the place, hopefully service will improve!
Hi Ally and a warm Rita welcome to you. Thanks for adding your comment on JP's. Please feel free to have your say on any others previously reviewed here so we can all be updated on the state of play at any of the venues.
Hi All,
I just had lunch at this establishment today and found the quality of the meal to be excellent. A confit of duck with red cabbage, potatoes, pear and balasmic dressing. The sweet and sour(tangy) elements were balance perfectly.Yummo.
