New Mures

This week has seen Rita trying to arrange the finishing-off of the new kitchen. New lino to go down, the splashback to be installed, then a lovely new paint job. Should be completed within the month.

So - popped in to Mures for some fresh fish, and to check out their absolutely fabulous renovations.

That place, I have thought over recent years, badly needed a hell of a lot of TLC. It has looked and felt past-it and tres shabby, and to eat there was more a duty than a pleasure.

Well - let me say someone with refreshing vision has overseen the renovation. It now actually looks at the beautiful water views now! Can you believe that this restaurant situated in THE best position in Hobart absolutely right on the water in the heart of everything, actually looked away from the water, with not one single sight of our harbour? I know I wasn't alone at the time they actually built Mures in wondering what the hell that was about!

Well, thank god that small detail has been rectified, and we can now see the River Derwent from the Mures downstairs area. I love it.

Congratulations Mures! At last you have seen the light, and the harbour, and have given us citizens of Hobart an updated version of your traditional Mures establishment.

I haven't seen Upper Deck yet, but hopefully will get there in the next few months.

Heard that The Observatory opened this week. Anyone checked it out yet?
