Rita's web site update

Progress so far:

My Programming Master has been diligently attending an Adult Ed course on Advanced Web Design in order to ensure both Rita and her readers get the product they so rightly deserve!

We spent yesterday afternoon going over our web content: what pages I wanted on the site, how I wanted them laid out, the Home page etc.

The project is still on track for release before Christmas, but my question to those of you who care - if you went to the Rita web site - what would you want to be reading/finding out when you got there?

Now is the time we can incorporate any suggestions into the layout of the site, and I'm more than happy to accept any suggestions or requests.

We are currently inputting the data of every establishment I've spoken about over the past year, and giving it a star rating as a guide.

We also have ideas about a favourite recipes page and a "people" page.

There are links to many things including other sites of interest, the restaurants mentioned etc.

Please assist me with your valuable thoughts. The results will be fun for all of us, I promise you.

Looking forward to the web page - all the ideas sound good, especially the star rated reviews, recipes and people.

Thanks Elena. When we eventually put it up on the net, if you have any comments, please contact me direct via this blog or comment here.

Sounds good Rita. Maybe have some sort of search engine so that you can look for distance from home (intergrate with google maps??) or a search by type of food.
I'm a BIG fan of pages that make things easy to find.
Set out wise http://glutenfreegirl.blogspot.com/ is really good.

I'm also really looking forward to your site Rita.
Zelda makes a good point, often a very direct heading will generate a lot of traffic to the posting. Remember that soixante neuf (69) post I did a while back? I still get porno-hunters visiting my site as a result.
A catchy title will get 'em in.

Thanks Zelda & Gobbler.

I checked out the site you recommended Zelda. Interesting. Will take all you've all said on board, and try to incorporate it, if we can.

Sweet - whatever you do I'm sure it will be amazing Rita - just like you!

BTW Gobbler - I reckon the reason you're attracting the porno hunters is the combination of the post headed '69', along with the fact that your blogging name is Gobbler, and you accompany all your postings and comments with a gaggle of turkeys! (Or whatever a group of turkeys are called! I think it's a gaggle of geese, isn't it?).
Big Brother has nothing on you!

What i want on your new site Rita is anything you like.
I like it now, so I'm sure what you feel is a NEW, IMPROVED site will be great.
One thing I've seen is a call for the best recipe for...
Then readers chip in. It's good trying someone's take on potato cakes, best batter for fish, chinese-restaurant style curry or whatever.
And in an obscure corner, can you print the upcoming saturday's winning lotto numbers...I need the cash. Have you seen the price of Theakston's?

Sir G - Not only have I not seen the price of Theakstons, but until there was you, I'd never even heard of it! You can tell I'm probably not the world's No 1 beer consumer, can't you?

Apart from that, I'm happy to give the lottos numbers a whirl, but please don't sue me when I get them wrong.

Re the recipes - I agree. Every man and his dog publish recipes on the net, so ours will be ones that have a difference, like our favourites, or Piss Easy ones like my Sticky Date Pudding one.
