Piccolo Restaurant and Wine Bar

Address:323a Elizabeth Street, North Hobart
Phone No:03 6234 4844
Web Site:
Description:Modern Australian (with Italian accent)
Comment:Piccolo is a new restaurant opened by chef Alex Jovanovic and his partner in August(2008).

Feedback from all who've gone there has been fantastic (including Marque IV staff).

Favourably reviewed by Graeme Phillips in the Sunday Tasmanian of 9 Nov 2008 who said "After four visits, it's hard to fault Piccolo. The food, its superb presentation, lack of pretension and simple, clean flavours really are very, very good."

Hello All At Piccolo

I have been searching fine eateries in Hobart in preparation for my visit in summer 09. Feed back from dinners to Piccolo looks very encouraging so I anticipate a wonderful experience in your newly established restaurant. I am a vegetarian (fussy) and am very happy to see you cater for those of us who often miss out on a main - I am eagerly anticipating enjoying your fare with perhaps just a little hint of Saffron!!

When you weigh up quality food, atmosphere, service and price this is easily the best restaurant in Hobart.

A lovely restaurant - always fresh, innovative food presented beautifully! Excellent service. Warm atmosphere. Staff are happy to cater for individual needs, in my case a yeast-free diet. Just love it!!!

Just want to add another pat on the back for all at this lttle restaurant who contribute to making it a wonderful dining experience: warm in all ways, magnificent dishes but designed and presented so that one comes out feeling truly nurtured too. A great combination, plan on time to linger there without rush, and perhaps fast for the day before you go, as I did, since there are so many nice things to have.

Love this gorgeous little place.
The food was wonderful.
A real treat to have such fine food.
You can taste all the care and attention they impart into their food.
We will definately revisit.

Dined there with several friends last night.Excellent service, gorgeous food and a relaxed, quiet atmosphere that made it easy to talk. The food was divine, every guest loved what they ate if a little on the expensive side for the amount received. Well done to the owners and chef....always great to have yet another place to dine in Hobart that we locals can be proud to recommend to others.

I'd like to add that not only were our (my wife and I's) mains absolutely beautiful, but they were probably one of the few meals we have had where we felt perfectly full and satisfied afterwards. Neither still hungry nor bloated after our meal. Unfortunately for our stomachs (but of course, not our tastebuds!) we opted for a dessert, which pushed us over the edge :)

I'd have to agree that this is one of the best restaurants in Hobart in terms of balancing the quality with the price, next to Le Provencal, Paesanos and Written on Tea (probably the best value in Hobart along with Kawasemi's...).

Finally I'd like to commend their kitchen staff for their ability to create such wonderful food in such a tiny crowded kitchen. As a former kitchen hand i know how space is always at a premium.
