Taste at Bahai has a new menu

I received the email below from Michael and Karen from Taste at Bahai.......they have a new menu which I won't attach here but leave it for you to go there and try it yourself...... I'm not best pleased that they are now closing on Saturdays though......

Please find attached our new menu. Although entitled “April” it will continue for a few weeks, highlighting the best of the current local produce that we have discovered recently. We have managed to source fabulous wild rabbit that is encased in a crème fraiche pastry, which features with rhubarb chutney.

With the colder weather happening we also thought that a hearty broth would be a good idea, so we have combined some local lamb neck chops that we have slowly braised and de-boned to be served in the rich stock with beckia dumplings. Beckia is an indigenous herb, a member of the myrtle family that imparts a delightful musk flavour to the dish.

Ziggy has provided some of his award winning kassler that we team with our popular kimchi in a crusty roll, and Gerard from Nicholls Rivulet Organic Farm is supplying excellent minute steaks that are served with delicious freshly roasted vegetables. Of course we are still including a number of our signature dishes as long as we can find fresh local ingredients, such as our confit turkey livers and warm salad of beetroot with fetta and Wursthaus chorizo. All in all we are currently offering 18 dishes priced between $5 and $15 so we have many tastes to suit many palates.

Bookings recommended
For those of you that are familiar with our café you would be aware that it fills very quickly, so over the next few weeks we will be increasing the number of inside seats. It is still highly recommended that you call us to book of course, as our overflow seating outside is best suited to milder days. We also close on days where we have large meeting and conference bookings within the centre, another reason to call and check.

Over winter our operating hours will be reduced slightly, and we will cease to operate on Saturdays from this week, May 2nd and will re-open on Saturdays in October.

Great coffee (and tea)
Finally our coffee according to some! is the best in Hobart and we are the only southern Tasmanian providers of Dimattina Coffee. We have two blends from their range, the Prima Tazza, (the house blend) or the Brazilian Ipanema Rainforest Alliance blend, a fair trade coffee sourced from the co-op by Dimattina. Of course we also have 12 different loose leaf teas available by the pot, supplied by local company Art of Tea, that are also sensational!

Free advertising, Rita...not even filtered through your palate?
Hmmph! Not sure about this.

This is not the first time I've published info sent to me by a restaurant or cafe, Sir G.
And I select which ones I endorse - so actually it WAS filtered through my palate!
Anyway - I need you and the good wife to check out Grub Cafe in New Town soon. I'm hoping you will, then come back and tell me how you went....

What if I just take the bad wife? And where exactly in Nu Town is it?
Harumppph.

Alright, take the bad wife instead! Do you know where the Scottish guy off The Collectors (ABC TV), Gordon Brown, has his antique shop? It's opposite that, on New Town Rd. Just past the intersection of New Town Rd with Pirie St.

Try it out sir g - one of the best value places in town. Consistently superb food and friendly people. We go at least once a week - haven't had a bad meal.

Bahai is my favourite at the moment. Warm beetroot salad with chorizo - yum.

oh, and those bloody little cakes at the counter - surely placed there just to reveal how weak willed I am.

You and me both must be the most weak willed in Hobart, Stephen! Staff there are now well trained to box up 4 of the little suckers for me to take away when I leave - one just won't cut it!

two for me - but one of them must have the peppermint icing.

Hopefully I am not missing something frightfully obvious but I have no idea where Taste at Bahai is and cannot find them via google or yellow pages! Can you please add their contact details to the page so I can go and eat their delicious-sounding food?

Cheers :)
