Hi Rita & hazel, thanks for the thoughts. I had lovely roast chook, pink eyes & well dressed salad. Dessert was a mini caramel ice cream magnum with no room for all of my candles!

Presumably you got only the wings of the roast chook? And yes, I agree that there would be no space for 43 candles on a mini magnum!!
I trust you're lording it round RVL today suitably attired in a new pair of felt slippers or moccasins, using your new hanky and smelling strongly of Old Spice?

Stp fantasising Rita!
Actually I share a birthday with Auguste Escoffier dont you know!

Rita said...

Well, didn't he too love chook wings?

Wasn't the only thing he loved:
"In 1897, Ritz and Escoffier were both dismissed from the Savoy. Ritz and Echenard were implicated in the disappearance of over £3400 of wine and spirits, and Escoffier had been receiving gifts from the Savoy's suppliers".

What did they do then, well set up in opposition!

Nothing much has changed over the years in the hospitality game!

Not condoning theft of course but some chefs & maitre'd's often outgrow their premises & in that regard, yes that aspect of hospitality has not changed much.

Lets give them the benefit of doubt,
they might have just drank the £3400 worth of wine and spirits!

That part of hospitality hasn't changed much either!
