It totally passed me by without my noticing it, but my web guru pointed out to me yesterday that my last post about Lucky Ducks Cafe was my post number 1001 on this blog!
Can you believe that? Over 1000 posts written!
I am humming to myself a few lines from the Elton John classic - "I'm still standing better than I ever did, looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid".
It's lovely to feel part of this esoteric little Rita's Bite community of people who regularly pop in and give us their opinions, featuring such luminaries as Christina, Sir Grumpy, Cartouche, Cool Room, Steve, Victor, Reb, Michelle, Anon2 etc - the list goes on, and I apologise to the many hundreds whose identities and pseudonyms I have not listed here, but who have kept me, and all our readers, amused and interested for the past 5 years.

I'm so very glad to have found your blog a few years ago, and as a consequence, to have met and dined with you, your friends and even some of your family.
It has been my pleasure to find like minded people out there, who as my Dad describes me, are a little "preocccupied with food".
It's a wonderful thing you do here Rita and I hope you continue for a long while to come.

....and well done, Rita. I remember a day in December several years ago when you called in on M to announce your new venture and your inclusion of a certain Pav recipe on the site. Many interesting discussions and sage advice from you since then. Looking forward to the next 1000!

Thanks for those acknowledgements, guys. Hope I'm still round churning them out in another 1000 posts time! I genuinely appreciate everyone's input into this blog, whether it's highly derogatory or positive. It serves the purpose of being able to keep an eye on what opinions, and feelings, are in the community on our mutual subject of interest.
Without wishing to digress, I have now decided to "join" you lot with my own food blog (sorts), of course in my usual interminable style....

Well done Rita! 1,000 is a special number.
My wife and I enjoyed one of our very (VERY) rare nights out sans children, and visited Smolt last night.
We had an excellent time. Wonderful service, the food was tremendous (I had the rabbit in prosciutto, Jen had the crab and fettuccini) and the desserts did the trick. I would happily go back for more, provided my parents would oblige with the babysitting.
Hey Reb, what about the one vote for 'only in certain instances'. What instance might that be if it doesn't involve great food,great service or a combination ?
